OUR MISSION

“To teach the cultural heritage of the many Mexican regions through folkloric dances, hence developing a health self-esteem of the participants and an educational enjoyment for the observers.”

We serve the community by helping young adults get rid of bad habits and/ or addictions in the communities through Mexican folk dance.

BIOGRAPHY
Ballet Folklorico Jalisciense was founded in 1984 by director and choreographer Mary Lopez. It originally started with only six young girls. As time passed the group grew larger becoming a co-ed group characterized by its dancer presence and flirtatious partner interaction.
The group has since participated in many social, cultural and educational events in Southern California and Baja California. By 1991, the group had become a professional dance company developing its repertoire and participating in a wide variety of events. Most notably it has performed numerous times in the Nations International Festival in San Diego, the San Diego County Fair at Del Mar and at Disneyland.
Ballet Folklorico Jalisciense has also had the opportunity to perform on the international level by participating in various folklore festivals. Jalisciense has traveled to China in 2011, Brazil in 2014, India in 2015, Guadalajara 2017, Belgium in 2017 , and Finland in 2013/ 2019.
